Research on implications of hypersonic weapons
In September, the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) and the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) hosted a tabletop exercise on hypersonic weapons. IFSH Visiting Research Fellow Dmitry Stefanovich acted as a consultant and facilitator for the exercise.

Presentation of the RISK Report in Brussels
The RISK study was presented on 16 October 2019 in Brussels by several of its authors. Around twenty-five participants from EU institutions, NATO and Brussels-based foundations came to hear the controversial discussion.

Canadian scientists visit the IFSH
The IFSH and the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) in Ottawa are in the process of establishing close transatlantic research co-operation. To this end, the Canadians visited the IFSH at the end of October.

Ulrich Kühn: Regional Conflicts
In his latest publication, “Regional Conflicts”, Ulrich Kühn, together with a select group of international researchers, focusses on the sub-regional conflicts in post-Soviet Europe and Eurasia. In examining conflicts in the South Caucasus, Ukraine and Moldova, the researchers propose a number of stabilising and pain-reducing measures to mitigate further conflict.

Moritz Kütt: Ban Treaty
Together with Zia Mian, a researcher at the Program on Science and Global Security, Princeton University, Moritz Kütt published an article "Setting the Deadline for Nuclear Weapon Destruction under the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons" in the Journal for Peace and Nuclear Disarmament.
